This IP is very useful to realize any kind of loadable counter whether a up counter or down counter. Loadable counters are very useful in complex designs to start or stop any process or to fetch data from memory or to write data to a memory or to generate phase signals. Thus General Loadable Counter IP is designed so that one single IP can generate both up or down counter without consuming extra logic for switching type. There is a signal parameter up to change the type of the counter. If this parameter is 0 then a up counter is realized and if it is 1 then a down counter is realized. The width of the counter can also be changed.
