This product is a breakout board for MCP3008 ADC manufactured by the Microchip Technology Inc. MCP3008 is a very popular 10-bit ADC which is used for many applications. This ADC can be used externally to an FPGA or any microcontroller to capture signals. Thus this breakout board is made. ADC breakout board for MCP3008 is designed to connect with FPGA boards with famous and most used PMOD connectors. But can be connected through other type of connectors easily.
MCP3008 is a 10-bit ADC IC which is having 8-channels to select input analog signals. The MCP3008 is programmable to provide four pseudo-differential input pairs or eight single-ended inputs. Differential Nonlinearity (DNL) and Integral Nonlinearity (INL) are specified at ±1 LSB. Communication with the devices is accomplished using a simple serial interface compatible with the SPI protocol. The IC is capable of acquisition at up to 200 ksps. The MCP3008 device operate over a broad voltage range (2.7V – 5.5V). Low-current design permits operation with typical standby currents
of only 5 nA and typical active currents of 320 μA. 16-pin PDIP version of MCP3008 is used in this breakout board. More details about the IC can be found in the specification sheet which is provided along with the product.
This product is designed such a way that along with 3.3 V from FPGA board, external voltage is also can be used as reference. External voltage also can be used to Vdd pin of the ADC IC. In order to help the user with its usage a sample Verilog code is also provided with this product.
S ALOKA PATRO –
The breakout works really great. I would definitely suggest you all.
